Part 1
Resting Energy Expenditure (REE)
Your REE is the energy your body uses at rest. It makes up about 60–70% of the calories you burn each day.
Your REE is measured by indirect calorimetry, the gold-standard method. This test measures the oxygen you breathe in and the carbon dioxide you breathe out to work out how many calories your body burns.
- What it feels like
- You sit back comfortably and breathe normally while the calorimeter measures the air you breathe.
- How long it takes
- About 15 to 20 minutes of quiet rest.
- How to prepare
- Fast for at least 4 hours before your appointment. During those 4 hours: no smoking, no exercise, and no caffeine.
- In your report
- Your measured resting calorie burn and what it means for your daily energy needs.
Part 2
3D Body Composition Scan
Body composition is what your body is made of. This scan shows your lean muscle, your fat mass (how much of your weight is fat), and detailed body measurements.
The scan is validated against DXA, a specialized X-ray scan used to measure body composition. Your body composition helps explain your metabolic results.
- What it feels like
- A quick, contact-free 3D body scan. You stand still for a few seconds while the scanner captures your shape.
- How long it takes
- A few minutes.
- How to prepare
- Wear form-fitting clothing.
- In your report
- Your lean muscle, fat mass, body fat percentage, and detailed body measurements.
Part 3
Dietary Review
You'll complete a 24-hour food recall: a record of everything you ate and drank over a 24-hour period. It's reviewed for:
- Your eating patterns
- Macronutrients: protein, carbohydrates, and fat
- Micronutrient needs: vitamins and minerals
- What it feels like
- You go through everything you ate and drank over a 24-hour period, with guidance on portions.
- How long it takes
- About 15 minutes.
- How to prepare
- Think back over your last full day of eating and drinking. No other preparation is needed.
- In your report
- A review of your eating patterns, macronutrients, and micronutrient needs.
